Hazardous Area Verification Dossier

If an area is classified as being hazardous, a hazardous area verification dossier must be compiled. A hazardous area verification dossier is a live, legal document that demonstrates that your installation complies with the relevant standards set by AS/NZS 60079.

A verification live dossier must be made available to everyone on-site and should be updated as the equipment is inspected, installed or classification changes.

The verification dossier should contain all information required to verify compliance with hazardous area standards. This includes overall site information and details of all electrical equipment installed.

THE IMPORTANCE OF A VERIFICATION DOSSIER

A verification dossier allows your electrical equipment to be verified by a third party, in the event of an audit or following a safety incident. In such an event, the hazardous area verification dossier may be necessary to prove to an authority that the hazardous area installation has been appropriately managed.

It is the responsibility of the plant owner that the dossier is kept up to date, and that electrical equipment maintenance and inspections are carried out according to the procedures included within. Only then can the verification dossier function as intended.
